Some places are built. Others are restored with love. Mankin Mansion is the latter. As we celebrate our 20th anniversary, we look back to honor our history and the journey that brought us to where we are today.

Long before it became a place for celebration, the property carried a legacy of craftsmanship through E.T. Mankin, whose handmade brick helped shape not only the Mansion itself but much of the surrounding community. That history still lives within the estate today. In restoring the property, great care was taken to preserve as much of that original brick and character as possible, honoring the hands that first built it while allowing it to endure for generations to come.

When the Mansion was first purchased by Martin and Paula, the estate was not what you see today. It was quiet. Worn. Nearly forgotten. But where others may have seen disrepair, Martin and Paula felt something else entirely. A calling. There was a sense that this historic estate was simply waiting to be loved again. It wasn’t broken; it just needed someone to believe in it.

The rebuilding process was no easy feat, but Martin and Paula were guided by a vision of bringing love, joy, and romance back to the Mansion’s front doors. Even in its most fragile state, there were glimpses of its former beauty. Strong bones remained, intricate details, and handmade brick. There was still very much a story worth telling.

Piece by piece, with intention and care, the Mansion was brought back to life. Every brick repaired, every flower planted, every space reimagined. The work was never simply about restoring what once was, but about creating something more meaningful.

The journey was not easy. There were long days, difficult seasons, and moments when the vision felt far away. But what carried everything forward was the clarity of what this place could become. Before a single celebration took place, there was already a picture in mind: families gathered on the lawn, laughter filling the air, and couples dancing beneath the lights. That vision never faded, and over time, it became real.

In the beginning, weddings at Mankin Mansion felt intimate and experimental. Each one was part of building something new. Today, there is refinement, flow, and confidence. Yet the heart of the Mansion has never changed. Every wedding remains deeply personal. Every couple is seen and valued. Every celebration is approached as a story that matters.

Over the past twenty years, the Mansion has evolved in countless ways. The gardens have grown fuller, the spaces more defined, the team stronger, and the reputation well-earned. But perhaps the most meaningful transformation is something less tangible. The property has grown in soul. It no longer simply hosts events, it carries them. It holds the stories of the people who pass through, and the joy of those who have shared one of the most meaningful days of their lives here.

Today, the Mansion is filled with laughter, promises, and new beginnings. What was once nearly lost has become a place where love is celebrated and history stands the test of time. To witness so many couples begin their lives together here is profoundly humbling. It is a reminder of what care, intention, and belief can create over time. This was a place that came close to being lost, and what stands today is the result of preservation rooted in both reverence for its past and hope for its future.

Looking ahead, what matters most is continuity. The hope is that long after today, this place will continue to stand as a witness to love. That it will represent legacy, restoration, and the power of seeing something before the world sees it. A place where people gather to celebrate, to connect, and to remember what truly matters. For every couple who arrives, our hope is that they feel chosen, as if this place was always meant to hold their story, and that the joy they experience here stays with them long after they leave.

After twenty years, Mankin Mansion is more than a restored estate. It is a living testament to vision, resilience, and the enduring power of love. We look forward to continuing to create meaningful moments for many years to come.
